I don’t think it would be that difficult to re-charge Indie 103.1, they had so many great things already in place. You just need the money.

Indie was the best station I ever listened to. It was quite painful in recent months when they dumped a majority of great djs and fantastic new music for 15 year old pearl jam, smashing pumpkin and nirvana songs. They never ended up playing Linkin Park, but I wonder how close they got. I received the news ironically enough while listening to an online station, woxy.com. Woxy had gone through a similar thing years earlier and now is online, has like four core djs and is supported by a online music retailer. Perhaps indeed can do the same. Online radio needs djs.

Kevin B. might not like what I am about to say, but I am going to say it any way: Ann Powers (LA Times) killed Indie. If you have read any of her reviews (Radiohead night 1, Beck/Jenny Lewis @ Nokia, Chinese Democracy) you know what a verbose and yet atrocious reviewer Powers is. Last week, Powers took part in Jonesy’s “Panel Judge” where she listened to a song and said, “Sounds a little like Fall Out Boy. I haven’t spent too much time with Fall Out Boy’s latest album but….”

Ann Powers, I wanted you to kill Rhianna and Jonas Bros. career, NOT INDIE!!
