Download: Kitten, ‘Sunday School’ EP

6

The first EP from Kitten – the L.A. quartet fronted by teenage wunderkind Chloe Chaidez, still a tick short of her 16th birthday – is exactly what the foursome’s memorable live shows promised: five songs of breathy, dance-friendly, hormonally charged rock that makes you wonder if adolescence is obsolete. Chaidez, backed by a tight band of Andy Miller, Zach Carper and Max Kuehn, channels a couple decades of post-punk and New Wave goddesses on Kitten’s first outing, “Sunday School,” available for free download at the band’s website. There’s some growing to do, but, from the ache of “Kill the Light,” the propulsive dance-punk of “Chinatown” and the screechy roar of “Kitten With a Whip,” it’s liable to get its claws in you.
