Just a week after the Morning Benders announced their first Japan tour dates, a massive earthquake and inevitable tsunamis left the country devastated. To voice their support of the survivors and aid in the relief efforts, the Brooklyn-based band announced the release of an exclusive “Japan Echo” EP, which includes eight tracks. Frontman Chris Chu is encouraging fans to donate then download the EP from the band’s website. All proceeds will be forwarded to the Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund and as of March 25, donations have already surpassed $8,000.

The eight-track EP includes two new original songs (“Better In Blue” and “Little Riot”) and six remixes of songs off of the band’s 2010 album, “Big Echo.” Star Slinger, Wild Nothing, RAC, Twin Sister, Aislyn contribute their re-workings of these particular songs to join the Morning Benders in raising funds for the charity.

It’s a pretty staggering tracklist – 38 songs in all. Hard to go wrong there, and for a good cause.
