Video: Johnny O’Donnell & Sacramento, ‘The Gothic Singer’

0

The last time we heard from Johnny O’Donnell, he had just released solo material after his former band Holy Ghost Revival called it quits. Although only four tracks, “Korean Debutante” gave us a little taste of what O’Donnell could do on his own, and the flavorful Americana he provided on the EP has sprung into a new project that now has him billed as Johnny O’Donnell & Sacramento. The band’s upcoming EP, “Masquerade” is slated for a June 28 release on White Noise, and the lead single “The Gothic Singer” reveals O’Donnell’s estimable storytelling skills. The accompanying video is a tale itself. Directed by Kyle Safieh and starring a few members of labelmates, Jail Weddings, the music video follows a masked vagabond on his mission to save harmonic righteousness from the hands of crooked miscreants.
