Download: Dawes, ‘If I Wanted Someone’

Ever since Dawes planted the seed with its album “North Hills” in 2009, the music of the L.A. quartet has flowered. The band was picked up by ATO; the foursome became in demand for its harmony-laden Americana; and, even during frontman Taylor Goldsmith’s detour to work with Matt Vasquez and John McCauley on Middle Brother, Dawes was never far from the public ear, owing to the Chevy commercials featuring “When My Time Comes.” Goldsmith and mates (who also recently performed as Robbie Robertson’s backing band, with the lead singer contributing vocals to the Band man’s new recordings) today revealed that their sophomore album “Nothing Is Wrong” will come out June 7. The new album features a guest turn from Jackson Browne, as well as Benmont Tench on organ. The teaser track “If I Wanted Someone” exudes a vintage California rock feel, and a nifty guitar solo to boot.
