The roster of 4AD is dotted with artists who’ve carved out some kind of legacy, so imagine our surprise in June when the label announced the addition of Inc. – the project of twins Daniel and Andrew Aged that until recently was doing business as Teen Inc. The Ageds have collaborated with Nite Jewel and Francis & the Lights [get “Eiffel Tower” and “The Things That I Would Do” here], and their resumé boasts studio and touring work with the likes of 50 Cent, Elton John, Pharrell Williams, Beck, Raphael Saadiq, Cee-Lo, Heavy D and Robin Thicke. Confessed Prince worshipers, these brothers are, but the first couple of songs off Inc.’s debut EP “3” (out digitally July 26 and on vinyl Aug. 9) sound more like the Purple One drowning in a bathtub. Your tastes may vary.
