Video: The Get Up Kids, ‘Rally ’Round the Fool’

by kevin on July 11, 2011

For a band that’s been around since the Clinton Administration’s first term, resuscitated Midwestern emo guys the Get Up Kids certainly are taking a DIY approach these days. The new video for “Rally ’Round the Fool” — like the first three made for songs off their first album since 2004, “There Are Rules” — was made by Pat Vamos (Upright Citizens Brigade) using found footage. Not that the Get Up Kids’ army of fans are going to need any slick, megabucks videos; with “There Are Rules,” they got what they wanted — bright, prickly and often raw guitar-pop that gets as much in your face as in your ears.

||| Live: The Get Up Kids play Aug. 14 at the Satellite and Aug. 15 at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown.
