Video premiere: Dead Sara, ‘Weatherman’

Whether Dead Sara’s song “Weatherman” is an oblique reference to the long-ago radical left group the Weather Underground, the band will leave up to you. It is, says singer Emily Armstrong, about “having your own voice and being heard. Standing up for your rights, and taking back what is yours. Freedom!” Oh, that freedom could ring like Armstrong’s voice. The quartet of Armstrong, guitarist Siouxsie Medley, Chris Null and Sean Friday announced their presence as one of L.A.’s prime hard-rock contenders earlier this year, and their forthcoming album (due Oct. 11) packs enough punch to knock a (Sunset) boulevard full of pretenders out of the ring. Matt Odom’s video for “Weatherman” captures Dead Sara’s metal/blues/punk fury nicely, but it’s really best enjoyed live. Which an increasing number of fans can do, since the foursome earned a slot opening the West Coast leg of the Bush tour.
