Video: Big Moves, ‘Inspiration as a Recurring Theme’

Nobody in these parts quite sounds like Big Moves, the L.A. quintet that ties jazzy sophistication and punk energy into stylish knot and adorns it with a bow of Jess Imme’s powerful vocals. They set the bar high with their 2008 album “In the Beginning,” and their “Lanterns” EP earlier this year demonstrated that Imme, Blake Straus, Wes Singerman, David Cowin and Taylor Dexter have no interest in dumbing anything down. This month the fivesome embarked on a project called “Big Moves Mondays,” which will see the band release a single and a video on the first Monday of every month. They’re off to a good start with the wryly titled “Inspiration as a Recurring Theme.” Now the challenge is to manifest their inspiration monthly.
