The last time I witnessed the Henry Clay People play a New Year’s Eve show: The Satellite was known as Spaceland; the Henry Clays covered “Sometime Around Midnight” at, well, about midnight; there was an onstage marriage proposal; the band played 90-plus minutes of classic rock covers in addition to an hour of their own material; and part of the delirious crowd ended up onstage singing along.

They’re doing it again this year. The lineup for Saturday night’s Buzz Bands LA-presented festivities at the Satellite includes cracklin’-good indie-rockers LA Font and Races (the latter has promised a Sugar Ray cover set, and we can’t tell if they’re joking), along with bonus sets in the upstairs room from Paulie Pesh and Jillinda Palmer and Joe Napolitano. With a complimentary champagne toast at midnight, it’s hard to imagine there’s a better New Year’s Eve value for $10 ($8 if you RSVP).

‣ At the Standard Hotel Hollywood, it’s Jenny and Johnny, along with Cults and KCRW DJ Marion Hodges. $75-$125.
‣ Rather interesting pairing to usher in 2012 at Club Nokia – Wanda Jackson and Best Coast. $28.50-$45.
‣ Paul Van Dyk, his new album “Evolution” (featuring collaborations with Adam Young of Owl City) on the way in March, headlines the two-day “White Wonderland” at the Anaheim Convention Center. Also performing: Kaskade, Benny Benassi. Ticket prices vary according to packages.
‣ John Digweed heads up a big night at the Avalon. $90.
‣ At Hollywood & Highlands, Lupe Fiasco and Cobra Starship conduct the party. $75-$150.
‣ Junkie XL and Jason Bentley top the bill at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. $25.
‣ Twenty years after they got started, Dada celebrates at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. $50.
‣ Pink Martini’s worldly cocktail of music will prevail at Disney Hall. $109-$209.
‣ Jazz your thing? It probably won’t get better than Jane Monheit at Catalina’s. $75.
‣ Over-the-top rawk at the Roxy, headed up by Semi Precious Weapons and Warner Drive. $25-$45.
‣ It’s DJ Quik and Faith Evans at the Key Club. $40-$75.
‣ And Musiq Soulchild at the House of Blues. $75.

‣ Old school at the Redwood Bar with the Gears and Death on the Radio. $15.
‣ And the final night of Kissing Cousins’ residency at Casey’s downtown coincides with New Year’s Eve. Nice. And free.
