Coachella 2012: Wallpaper’s noon-hour dance party

Who: Wallpaper at the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: The next LMFAO.
Memorable Because: Here in the land of heart-shaped sunglasses, excess rules. And Wallpaper (Ricky Reed, backed by singer-keytarist Novena Carmel and a trio of tight-as-a-fist percussionists) pushes all the right buttons. Take away the naughty bits, and Wallpaper – who, if memory serves, used to be indie and a bit avant-electro – belongs on Disney Radio. You could hardly find anyone in the Mojave Tent’s footloose and brightly dressed crowd who gave a whit. Pleas for call-and-response got plenty of response, with the band’s current hit, the audaciously titled “F*cking Best Song Ever,” capping the proceedings a Tinker Toy rap and a pop chorus.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at LA Riots: You must have made it to sophomore year.
