Download: The Little Ones, ‘Argonauts’ (new take)

Two years ago, when the Little Ones rebooted from the second label misadventure of their career, a new flood of music seemed imminent from the L.A. outfit, whose upbeat, tropical take on indie-pop first brightened our moods back in 2006. Now a six-piece (and featuring two former members of underrated L.A. band Division Day), the Little Ones instead took their time. And their first album since 2008’s “Morning Tide” is ready – “The Dawn Sang Along” will be out Feb. 12 via their own Branches Recording. The new song “Argonauts” actually dates back to 2010, but it’s been made over quite a bit, and for the better. On “AWOL” singer-guitarist Ed Reyes shows he’s lost none of the boy-next-door charm that was the Little Ones’ original calling card. As with the previous work, the band – Brian and Ed Reyes, Lee LaDouceur, Kevin Lenhart, Ian Moreno and Ryan Wilson – made the new album along with local producer David Newton.
