Seven Saturdays and Western Lows – two L.A. artists with enticing album releases on the horizon – highlight an eclectic lineup for Buzz Bands LA’s monthly showcase of new music on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Satellite. The show is free.

Seven Saturdays, the nom de tune of songwriter Jonathan Haskell, has a impressive catalog of instrumental music and remixes, including the “Love in the Time of Anticipated Defeat” album and “Secret Things” EP, both released in March of 2011. The forthcoming album, however, incorporates vocals into Haskell’s keenly cinematic music for the first time. Seven Saturdays will perform with a new lineup. [And watch this space Wednesday for a taste of the new.]

Western Lows is the new (so new there’s no website yet) vehicle for the songs of Jack Burnside (Mezzanine Owls), who is joined by Michael Orendy (Frankel) and Julien Bellin (Polls). Western Lows’ debut album, “Glacial,” has been recorded with Andy Lemaster (Now It’s Overhead, Bright Eyes, R.E.M.) in Athens, Ga. It’ll be out in the new year.

Popsmiths Auditorium [background/download] will kick off the night and indie-rockers Pretend Electric [background/download] will provide the nightcap.
