@KRBronson recommends: This will be special – four bands from the 1980s movement known as the Paisley Underground reunite Friday night for a benefit show at the Fonda Theatre. The lineup features the Bangles, the Three O’Clock, the Dream Syndicate and Rain Parade, all fixtures in the 1980s (and beyond), and anybody who saw the Three O’Clock’s shows this past spring knows how well these bands’ variations on West Coast pop have held up over three decades.

@Seraphina_L recommends: Powerful songstress Cat Power comes roaring back into Los Angeles again after a lengthy tour in support of “Sun.” If you haven’t noticed by now, that’s Nico Turner (formerly of experimental duo VoicesVoices) on keys and bass with her. Turner will also open the show Monday at El Rey Theatre.
