Stream: Bart Davenport, ‘Wearing the Changes’

Singer-songwriter Bart Davenport has spent more than a decade gaining notice in his Bay Area home base and beyond for dalliances in old-school R&B (with his ’90s band the Loved Ones), new-school R&B (with the Quannum Projects outfit Honeycut) and, on five solo albums, classic rock, psych-pop and folk. He recently changed geography, moving to L.A. at the behest of bassist Jessica Espeleta, and working with a new new lineup that includes young jangle-meister Wayne Faler (Dream Boys) on guitar, keyboardist Nathan Shafer and drummers Andres Renteria and Paul Burkhart. Davenport’s new album “Physical World” (due March 4 via Lovemonk/Burger Records) is an excursion in retro-feeling pop-soul that recalls the dreamboats of ’60s abd ’70s AM radio. So far, he’s wearing the changes well.
