Above: Spoon’s eighth album “They Want My Soul,” their first from 2010, lives up to (and even builds upon) the Austin-bred band’s legacy as one of indie-rock’s greats. The album is out on Tuesday, with Spoon appearing at Amoeba on Wednesday and playing on the lawn at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Friday. The Haden Triplets – Tanya, Rachel, and Petra Haden, daughters of the late, legedendary Charlie Haden – play the free Sunset Concerts series at the Skirball Center on Thursday. And Haim – Este, Danielle and Alana – headline the Wiltern on Thursday and Friday.

@Seraphina_L recommends: Christopher Owens gets up close and personal on Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge. The historic building at Hollywood Forever Cemetery is where he’ll be unveiling more songs off his forthcoming album “A New Testament.” The ex-Girls frontman’s sophomore solo effort is slated for a Sept. 30 release.
