Not one of those “I-think-I’ll-stay-at-home” evenings:

‣ A special night for one of L.A.’s first families of music: The Haden Triplets – Tanya, Rachel and Petra, daughters of the late Charlie Haden – perform a free show at the Sunset Concerts at the Skirball Center. The trio’s debut album came out earlier this year on Third Man Records.
‣ And speaking of sisters, Haim are back from their world festival travels to do a show at the Wiltern.
Jagwar Ma rocks the Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier with Fascinator opening.
Arctic Monkeys storm the Staples Center, with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club opening.
Eminem and Rihanna do the first of two nights at the Rose Bowl.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah headline the Troubadour behind their new album “Only Run.” Frontman Alec Ounsworth opens the night with a solo turn.
The Temper Trap, who have been holed up working on their third album, are playing their first headlining shows more than a year, and their your brings them to the Roxy Theatre tonight.
Deer Tick headlines the Echoplex – get there early for T. Hardy Morris & the Hardknocks and thank us later.
‣ Omaha-born quartet the The Good Life – which includes Tim Kasher of Cursive and Stefanie Drootin-Senseney of L.A.’s Big Harp – visits the Echo, pulling from their four-album catalog. Big Harp opens.
‣ Boston indie-rockers Air Traffic Controller play the Bootleg HiFi, with the Tragic Thrills and the Narwhals opening.
‣ And roots-rock sextet Truth & Salvage Co. – now based in Nashville after getting their start in L.A. – do the first of two nights at the Hotel Café.
