When we caught Matt Kivel at Echo Park Rising last month, it was obvious that he has a sense of humor. Perhaps that’s why he asked his new acquaintance Ben Elie, someone who had no experience directing music videos, to direct his clip for “End of Adventure.” The whimsical result is an endearing collection of special effects that help tell the tale of a Matt Kivel super fan, who actually turns into Kivel himself. (That’s where Kivel’s twin brother Jesse comes in.) The track is from Kivel’s latest album “Days of Being Wild” (out now via Woodsist) and is one of the many songs where the L.A. singer-songwriter (who is also known for playing in Gap Dream and Princeton) juxtaposes his intimate storytelling with with a focus on electric guitar.
