Who: Saint Motel on the Main Stage
In 3 or Fewer Words: Showtime.
Memorable Because: The lesson here is: If you’re a recently signed band and the Fates (or your savvy label/booking agent) land you a slot on the Coachella Main Stage, do it up right. Even if it’s at 1:20 on a Sunday afternoon. The Los Angeles quartet — A/J Jackson, Aaron Sharp, Dak Jones and Greg Erwin — pulled out all the stops for their 30 minutes in the bright sun, enlisting a four-piece horn section to back their jaunty pop-rock and can-can girls to add a little color. It might seem gimmicky, but Saint Motel’s music —  from their new EP to the “Voyeur” full-length and back to 2009’s “ForPlay” EP — has a swinging theatricality. They kicked off with their homage to “Benny Goodman” and ended with the current single “My Type,” which most all of the crowd seemed to know. Go ahead, vamp it up.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Angel Olsen: Can’t fault you there, but you missed a moment.
