Best soundtrack to a picnic ever? It could have been. TV on the Radio kicked off the four-installment “Sound in Focus” series on the park-like expanse outside the Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City on Saturday. The capacity crowd, which battled long lines for food and drinks, gorged on the set from the NYC indie-rockers, who similarly thrilled a Palladium crowd back in April. This was not the Palladium, though, and at one point TVOTR frontman asked the crowd if they were still in Los Angeles, because, he said, it didn’t feel like Los Angeles. U.K. rockers Boxed In — a favorite of the night’s DJ and host, KCRW music director Jason Bentley, opened. The series continues Saturday with De La Soul and Quantic, Aug. 8 with Dwight Yoakam and X and Aug. 15 with Cold War Kids and Other Lives.
