► Alabama Shakes play their first Southern California show since the release of their acclaimed album “Sound & Color,” headlining the Greek Theatre with Blake Mills opening.
► Blues legend Buddy Guy holds forth at UCLA’s Royce Hall behind his new album “Born to Play Guitar,” with L.A. trio the Record Company supporting.
► Honduran singer-songwriter Aurelio [see our interview with the champion of the Garifuna culture] does a free show as part of the Sunset Concerts at the Skirball Center.
► Grace Potter headlines the Fonda Theatre behind her new solo album “Midnight.” Rayland Baxter opens.
► Rise Against does the first of two nights at the Hollywood Palladium, with Killswitch Engage and Letlive supporting.
► It’s the Jesus and Mary Chain and Cold Cave at the Glass House in Pomona.
► The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers celebrate the release of their debut album “Heavenly Fire” with a show at the Echo, supported by Banta and Maesa. And it’s the Echo Park Rising kickoff party as well.
► Long-running dancehall siren Sister Nancy headlines tonight’s installment of the free Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier, with Jesse Royal supporting.
► Everclear, Toadies, Fuel and American Hi-Fi take you back at Club Nokia. [For the record, three of those four bands have released new albums in the past year.]
► And Canadian electronic artist Tim Hecker plays the Teragram Ballroom, with Tyondai Braxton and Pod Blotz opening.
