Video premiere: Shana Halligan, ‘Get Gone’

Shana Halligan’s new album “Back to Me,” which came out in October via Plug Research, flits between the modern and the retro, serving as a strong statement that she’s “making big moves on my own,” as she sings on the album opener “Get Gone.” Halligan, formerly one-half of the duo Bitter:Sweet and a vocal contributor for Thievery Corporation, goes full-on 1940s chanteuse in the new video for “Get Gone.” Her hair all done up and adorned in a sequined dress, she tells a troublesome fellow to “pack up and get out,” affirming that she will be fine on her own.

Directed by Danger Dave, the stylish video also works as a analogy to Halligan’s career path. “Shooting the ‘Get Gone’ video was such an empowering experience for me,” she explains. “No longer hiding behind any band name, standing up for myself, and having my husband and 3-week-old old baby by my side, I couldn’t have felt more raw, real and actually perfectly glamorous. Working with the incredibly talented director Danger Dave was a beautiful experience. He truly sees me for who I am and allowed me to just simply be that, captured through the eyes of a gorgeous vintage lens.”
