Brothers Jantzen Meier, Chase Meier and Weston Meier are part of what we’ll call the Great Utah Indie Migration of the past few years, which has seen artists such Sego, the Moth & the Flame, the New Electric Sound and Toy Bombs (to name a few) relocate to Los Angeles. The Meiers had been doing business under the name Golden Sun, releasing an EP a couple of years ago and steadily gigging around town. For legal reasons, they’ve flipped their name to Goldensuns, and this week unveiled “I Feel This Place,” their first single under the new name. The self-produced track is swathed in hazy reverb, evoking the languid pleasures of “this place.” A spot in the sun on a secluded beach, perhaps. Or a hilltop spot to enjoy one of those Instagram-ready sunsets. Or merely the mental space you enter when you listen to something like this with a good pair of headphones. Goldensuns have more feelings to come, on an EP they plan to release in 2016.
