Building toward the release of their first album since 2008, NYC electronic music adventurers Brazilian Girls headlined the Roxy Theatre on Wednesday night, with singer Sabina Sciubba in fine form (and fashion), leading bandmates Didi Gutman, Jesse Murphy and Aaron Johnston through a set of songs old and new. Included was the freshly released single “The Critic.” They were energetic, if dimly lit, and even played some of their set in the dark. Sciubba will get her share of the spotlight soon enough; she will portray play “Penelope” in the new FX series “Baskets,” starring Zach Galifianakis and produced by Louis C.K. The show will premiere Jan. 21.

Brooklyn power-pop outfit Dreamers opened the show.
