German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk will bring their acclaimed 3D show to the Hollywood Bowl this summer as part of the Bowl’s wide-ranging 2016 season. The schedule was announced today.

Gold anniversaries will be in vogue this year, with “Pet Sounds: with Brian Wilson, “Star Trek (2009) in Concert,” Sergio Mendes’ Brasil 2016 and Jeff Beck all celebrating 50 years.

The Bowl will also play host to KCRW-sponsored shows featuring Bloc Party, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Burning Spear and the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma. Besides Kraftwerk, Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Culture Club, Chicago, Brandi Carlile and Carlos Vives will be making their Bowl debuts.

The season officially opens June 18 with Steely Dan, and the calendar also features Gustavo Dudamel directing the Los Angeles Philharmonic with performances of “West Side Story,” Tchaikovsky, “Tosca” and a showcase of Latin American music. Also: Renowned composer John Williams conducts the L.A. Phil for three nights in September; Gladys Knight, Sigur Rós, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals also visit; and Garrison Keilor makes his final appearance as host of “A Prairie Home Companion” on July 1.

The calendar does not include lease events, which this year feature the likes of the Cure, David Gilmour, Janet Jackson, Sting & Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates and the Dixie Chicks. Find those events here.
