Rachel Fannan has lent her talents to a lot of projects — notably, Bay Area rockers Sleepy Sun and, after her move to L.A., torch song-slingers Only You. Now Fannan (to use sports vernacular) is muscling up. Working with writer/producer Harlan Silverman, the singer-guitarist has made a six-song EP as The Bomb, baring her rock ’n’ roll teeth in music she calls “an angsty, guitar-driven kiss blown to the likes of Dinosaur Jr. or Black Sabbath.” The first single “Teenage Tomb” is a riffy three minutes that harks back to the days of spending time in your room getting your ya-ya’s out with your record collection. Live, the Bomb is a power trio featuring Ryan Qualls on drums and Deanna Streffer on bass. Bombs away.
