First off, happy birthday, Peter Morén. The P in PB&J turned 40 years young Thursday and then led Peter Bjorn & John through an exuberant set at the Echo that spanned the Swedish trio’s long catalog. The intimate teaser show, in advance of the June 10 release of the band’s seventh album, “Breakin’ Point,” was their first L.A. gig in five years. (They’re return in August to play FYF Fest.) Yes, during the encore they played “Young Folks,” released 10 years ago this summer, although the had to re-start the hit because of some weird feedback onstage. The band also played new songs, “What Are You Talking About,” “Do-Si-Do” and the new album’s title track — which also starts off with whistling. Also earning some crowd love: Four songs from 2011’s “Gimme Some” (including “I Know You Don’t Love Me” to close out the night) and two more from 2006’s album “Writer’s Block” (including “Objects of My Affection” to close out the main set). Okay Kaya opened the show.
