Desert Daze has announced the most impressive lineup in its five-year history — along with its new dates and location.

The festival — promoted by Moon Block Party (now in conjunction for the first time with Spaceland Presents and Knitting Factory Entertainment) — will feature the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Suicide (their first West Coast show in 16 years), the Sonics, Deerhunter, Thee Oh Sees, Deafheaven, Temples, Connan Mockasin, the Black Angels and much more. According to today’s announcement, that’s only Phase 1 of the lineup. Dead Meadow, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, Suuns, Dios and Fat White Family are among the other acts just announced.

Desert Daze will blaze Oct. 14-16 at the Institute of Mentalphysics (a 420-acre retreat located at 59700 Twentynine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree). It will feature three outdoor stages, plus an indoor space for alternate programming such as speakers, workshops and audio/visual performances, along with art installations, projections, vendors, bars, food trucks and an indoor diner.

Passes for what is being called an “intentionally limited capacity event” go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Details: Packages start at $140 for the 3-day festival pass and $75 for a three-day camping pass. Single-day tickets at $75. A three-day camping bundle is $195, and festival lodging (cottages and apartments, which sleep two to eight) start at $500 for the weekend and go up based on occupancy and other amenities. Car and RV camping passes are priced at $100 for cars and $135 for RVs. And three-day VIP packages start at $265.
