Simone White is a singer, songwriter and purveyor of pastel-voiced poetry who has released three full-lengths and an EP. White has also made forays into directing, and in her new music video for the song “Our Lucky Afternoon,” rarely has a home invasion been so sensual. Filmed by Michael Pessah at Simone’s Echo Park bungalow, it stars Ciara Caneega and Austin Horick as a couple having something of an afternooner — they play dice, break eggs, bake, dance … and only at the finish do you realize that the tender moments they shared might not have occurred in their own kitchen.

The song is one of a new batch of collaborations from YouNGNoon, the musical vehicle for singer-songwriter and producer Ed Mattiuzzi. Others feature guests such as Joy Autumn and Infinity Vik; his song with White recalls some of the collaborations undertaken by the Magnetic Fields’ brilliant Stephen Merritt in his side project The 6ths: understated and sophisticated and unbeholden to fashion. The sweet little melodic hook in “Our Lucky Afternoon,” like the day itself, will linger on.
