In “Red Flag” — the lead song on the Moth & Flame’s debut album “Young & Afraid” — singer-guitarist Brandon Robbins cops to being in the throes of feverish desire, acknowledging that while his brain tells him “moderation in all things,” his heart tells him otherwise. “Hopefully,” he sings to his beloved, “you’ll forgive if I cannot slow this down.”

The new video for “Red Flag,” directed by Julian Acosta and Kevin Bolger and shot by Sean Bagley, captures that fever in quick cuts to couples in intimate, spontaneous moments. Says the band: “This video is about overwhelming passion, infatuation and fleeting love — a celebration of youth and how unencumbered it can be. That magical time when emotion flourishes, and love is a dizzying, frenetic expression of the free-spirited shirking of responsibility and only paying attention to what is beautiful and intriguing in your world, even if it’s just for that moment.”

No small undertaking — behold the scenes on the sand, and the sheer number of actors involved — the video is alternately slick and gritty, and the visual effects depict how infatuation can send your heart and brain into overdrive. The L.A.-based quartet explains that on the first day of shooting, one of the cameras was stolen, yet Acosta and crew were able to salvage the day. In all, this one adds a new dimension to “whole lotta love.”
