► Funk-soul explorers Orgone play the FIGat7th Downtown Festival, a free affair where they are joined by special guest Cyril Neville.
► John Paul White (of the Civil Wars), whose first solo album in a decade, “Beulah,” is out next month, headlines the Troubadour. Secret Sisters open.
► Austin roots-rockers Reckless Kelly visit the El Rey Theatre.
► It’s Meghan Trainor at the Greek Theatre.
► Indie-rock quintet Trapdoor Social does a solar-powered album launch at Club Fais Do Do, with DreamVacation and 222 opening.
► Indie duo Highland Kites celebrate the release of their “Let Me Run” EP with a show at the Hotel Café. the night also features Frith, Allie Gonino, Twin Oaks and Wearethebigbang.
► Day 1 of the weekend’s Lobsterfest kicks off on the waterfront in San Pedro, with Hula Girls, Decorations and the Scott Whyte Band performing.
► And long-running psych-rockers the Asteroid #4 visit the Echo, supported by the Richmond Sluts and Levitation Room.
