Blood Orange played the first of two nights at the Theatre at Ace Hotel, part of FYF After Dark, the first non-festival show in support of his July 1st-released album, “Freetown Sound.” In the show, called “Welcome to Freetown,” Dev Hynes and his big live band performed the new album from start to finish with special guests Carly Rae Jepsen, Zuri Marley, Nelly Furtado, and Empress Of making appearances. After this weekend at FYF, they’re taking “Welcome To Freetown” all over the States.
The audience left with a general consensus: It was fantastic.
