Elohim

Stripped of its trip-hop beats and vocal effects, the acoustic rendition of “Xanax” turns into quite the heartbreaker, a gently beautiful portrait of panic and loneliness. Elohim, who finally lifted her cloak of mystery and revealed herself as Codi Nicole Caraco, released her standout self-titled debut EP in May through B3SCI Records. The classically trained musician now shares piano and voice renditions of two songs whose original versions somewhat mask the vulnerability of the words. In this format, “Sensations” is sexy and eager in places where the full-out version went big bubblegum pop. Elohim has new music coming in the fall.
