From the Dept. of Welcome Returns: Grandaddy has unveiled two new songs — the first new Grandaddy music from Jason Lytle since the album “Just Like the Fambly Cat” 10 years ago. With them came the news that Grandaddy has signed to 30th Century Records, the label founded by Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse) and home to the likes of Autolux, Big Search, Waterstrider and others. The Modesto-bred Grandaddy did some European festivals and a London show this summer, the first time they’ve surfaced since a brief 2012 reunion. “Way We Won’t” sounds like vintage Grandaddy: playful, fuzzy, trippy and a little bit subversive. The announcement of the new single said the band — Lytle, with Kevin Garcia, Jim Fairchild, Tim Dryden and Aaron Burtch — would make a full return this year, and that a full album is in the works.
