On Saturday night, Portland indie-poppers STRFKR proved as adept at injecting zany fun into their live show as they are at dropping vowels. They kicked off their headlining set at the El Rey Theatre accompanied by dancers in astronaut costumes, who hung out for three songs before the band carried on playing musical chairs and songs from their new album “Being No One, Going Nowhere.” Singer Josh Hedges paused to address the crowd on Tuesday’s election, saying that he was “still in shock” and that he wants STRFKR fans to “to feel safe and welcome at their shows.” The band got a particularly warm welcome when they played “Open Your Eyes” (and, of course, their cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”).

Psychic Twin, touring behind their album “Strange Diary,” opened the night to an already-packed venue (it was the second of two sold-out shows at the El Rey), before Gigamesh came on to stir up a mix that that included hits from Grouplove, Rihanna and other artists.
