Thee Commons, the quartet who stormed out of East L.A. with a intoxicating mix of psychedelia, cumbia and punk, had a great 2016. They released the album “Loteria Tribal” on Burger Records, the stole the show virtually every time they stepped onstage at a local club or festival and they made saxophone solos very, very sexy. Before they move on to 2017, the band — brothers David and Rene Pacheco, along with Jesus Salas and Jose Rojas — share the video for “Kiss Adios” from this year’s album. Directed by David Pacheco, it stars Rene Pacheco and Stephanie Godoy (who wears the Chila-Gorilla onstage during some of Thee Commons’ performances) as two mimes looking for love in all the right places — in this case, Elysian Park.

By the spring, Thee Commons hope to have released their next album “Paleta Sonora,” which, David Pacheco explains, translates to “Sounds Palette.” He adds: “It’s also a play on the Spanish word ‘Paleta,’ which can refer to a popsicle, so the translation would be ‘Sound Popsicle.’” Besides that album, Thee Commons have two more they could possibly release in 2017.
