Last Sunday, a benefit show organized by TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone in support of Standing Rock brought together performances by Kimya Dawson, TV on the Radio, Devendra Banhart and Fiona Apple, Valerie June, Benjamin Booker, Moses Sumney, The Chapin Sisters and more. Speeches were delivered between songs by Patricia Arquette and Riley Keough, in addition to an opening statement by special guest Bobbi Jean Three Legs of the Lakota Tribe, who led a 500-mile run against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Collaborations and heartfelt calls to action peppered the evening, with Fiona Apple taking a moment during “The Christmas Song” to yell “Donald Trump, FUCK YOU!”, which the audience supported with cheers.
