This will only hurt a little. Really. “NOISE” is a compilation album curated by writer/producer Laura Sterritt of the Adult Swim network and released right before Christmas. The goal, she says, “was to construct a project that incorporates different musical genres within the context of noise to make it accessible to a broader audience and a new generation of fans.” Accessible, of course, is a relative thing, but “NOISE” certainly covers some ground. Among the contributors: London-based Venezuelan producer Arca, Japanese noisemeisters Merzbow and Melt-Banana, Detroit inducstrial band Wolf Eyes, electronic experimental artist Dreamcrusher, long-running noise artist and Cold Cave collaborator Prurient, NYC industrial/noise maven Pharmakon and L.A. trio Clipping. The boundary-pushing hip-hop threesome — Jonathan Snipes, William Hutson and Daveed Diggs — are joined by Boston noise artists Sickness in the lead track “Body for the Pile,” which sounds like the year 2016 felt. Diggs’ game is strong.
