“Name for You,” the new single from the Shins, is an effusive pop song James Mercer wrote for his three daughters — and a broadside to how the media and society portray women, calling it “a bland kind of torture.” Following the teaser song “Dead Alive” released last fall, it’s the first proper from the Shins’ fifth album, “Heartworms,” out March 10. The album is produced by Mercer (except for “So Now What,” which is the work of Richard Swift).
