In the midst of a month-long Monday residency at The Echo celebrating their first album for L.A. imprint Innovative Leisure, the Molochs share another video from “America’s Velvet Glory,” which was released Friday. The song, “Charlie’s Lips,” is written from the perspective of one of Charles Manson’s followers. The song’s lyrics are very funny, but they could easily come from the heart of someone writing letters to Manson in jail or wishing they could time-travel back to the 1970s and just breathe that infectious communal air. The video continues the Molochs’ inclination towards recreating the visual aesthetic of the times they covet. Bandmates Lucas Fitzsimons and Ryan Foster sit in front of a crinkled black backdrop, some random props surrounding a vintage Vox amp, which they take turns sitting on, sporting some turtlenecks, of course, while playing toy instruments.
