Guidance

Arizona native Stefan Pruett came on the radar in 2015 with “Carefree,” a dark nod to his hometown, and has since adopted the nom de tune Guidance to forge ahead with his dark synth-pop. Pruett spent his early youth immersed in the Dischord Records world, bonding with bands like Crass, Operation Ivy and Fugazi, until friends turned him on to darker, danceable ’80s post-punk. Last fall, he toured supported Crystal Castles, and in the past two months he’s released two singles aiming to merge modern electro-pop with the sensibilities of his youth. They’re there, in Guidance’s fuzzy grooves, songs that abide his mantra to “dance, think, let go and feel with all your heart — whether it’s broken or not.”
