As Cold War Kids sail into their second decade, the Southern California quintet has sanded away some of the rough edges from their blue-collar blues-punk, with singer Nathan Willett’s caterwaul settling into a sonic comfort zone. The band — originals Willett and Matt Maust, with Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz and David Quon — today unveiled a new single, “Love Is Mystical,” along with the news that their sixth album, “L.A. Divine,” would arrive April 7 via Capitol Records. The single is one of those rallying cries for hope and love, which will “give you the power to believe again,” Willett sings in a song sure to be all over the radio airwaves soon.

“Love Is Mystical’s” video was directed by Phillip Lopez and choreographed by Amy Gardner, artistic director for annoDAM Dance. It’s the band’s first new tune since they contributed to “Locker Room Talk” to the anti-Donald Trump musicians’campaign just prior to the election. The album follows 2014’s “Hold My Home,” which was highlighted by Cold War Kids’ No. 1-charting single “First.”
