People Flavor

People Flavor are the musical mélange of four youngsters from Montebello, frontman Fernando Andrade with bassist Byron Turner, guitarist Giovanni Padilla and drummer Andrew Valdez. They released their first material, including “Words,” in late 2015 and since then have been refining their sound, which the quartet says is influenced by Latin rock and the post-punk/New Wave of U.K. bands from the past millennium. The aptly titled “Shake Well” reflects that tug-of-war, dancefloor-ready romp of peripatetic guitar and bass and clap-your-hands rhythms. The single, out Friday, is the second in the Dangerbird Records Microdose series that will see the L.A. label release a single per month from an up-and-coming artist and host an event to celebrate the release. Microdose was launched last month with Blonde Summer’s “Beer on Ice.”
