Neither rain nor slow traffic nor malaise over the political climate kept Surfer Blood from their appointed mission Friday night — showing a big crowd at the Teragram Ballroom a good time. Surfer Blood, which earlier this month released their fourth album “Snowdonia,” played five songs from their new release and four from their debut, 2010’s “Astro Coast.” Frontman John Paul Pitts was in buoyant spirits, asking the crowd to dance with the band even though, “I know its hard to dance with Trump as our president,” he said. During “Take it Easy,” he went into the crowd and sang with fans in the pit. They ended the show with “Swim.” thanking the crowd for “coming out in the hailstorm,” Pitts said. “As a former Angeleno I know that is hard to do.”

The Aquadolls got the crowd involved too, joining the fray on the floor and addressing politics in introducing their song “Girl Riot.” Prism Tats opened the night with songs from their self-titled debut.
