Allah Las have just released a 7-inch of bonus material derived from the recording sessions for their third album, the recently released “Calico Review.” One side features a demo version of “Autumn Dawn” recorded at the band’s frequent collaborator Kyle Mullarky’s Topanga Canyon home studio. On the flip there’s “Hereafter,” an unreleased instrumental with the Mellotron at the forefront, recorded during “Calico Review” sessions at Valentine Recording Studio. This tune feels like the soundtrack to a heist at an underwater speakeasy.

Fun fact: When Pedrum Siadatian, Miles Michaud, Matthew Correia, and Spencer Dunham formed the band in 2008, three of the members were working at Amoeba Music in Hollywood. “We were all music fans before we were musicians,” says Correia. “We’ve spent a lot of time listening to music, and understanding what works for us and what doesn’t.” The Mellotron is definitely working.
