Local indie favorites James Supercave, Bloodboy, La Bouquet and BOYO, along producer/DJs CRNKN, Neo Fresco, Sober Rob, Omniboi and Pusher are among the 50-plus artists performing at this year’s BROKE LA Music & Arts Festival.

The one-day, five-stage festival, originally founded as Brokechella, celebrates its seventh year by moving to a new date — April 8 (which unlike past fests is not opposite one of the Coachella weekends) — and a new location. It will be held from 3 p.m. ’til close at the Enox Events facility at 4560 Worth St.

Tickets are $25 and available here.

“It is important for us, first and foremost, that our event serve our artists in their professional development,” executive director Negin Singh says of the date change. “We are proud of our unbelievable talent and want to ensure that those in the music industry as well as our audience can freely engage in discovery at our festival without having to sacrifice celebrating what’s big in the mainstream festival circuit.”

And this year, it’s all about playtime.

Staged by indie event producers cARTel: Collaborative Arts LA in conjunction with Brownies and Lemonade, Shifty Rhythms and Department 4, the event’s theme this year is BROKE Playground. Each stage — Jungle Gym, Ball Pit, Bounce House, Swings and Sandbox — will feature “its own whimsical playground buildout,” promoters say.

Beyond that, BROKE LA promises more art installations this year, along with its usual cadre of street food, drinks, photo booths, activism hubs, boutique vendors and merch, all set to a an eclectic soundtrack of rock, rap, electronic music and comedy. Also this year: The Bark LA: Rescue Playground, which allows you to attend with your pet or meet an adoptable animal at the fest; and Same Sky, an “activism hub” for voter registration, political letter-writing and button-making.
