Video: Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, ‘Sexual Tension’

The Holden Brothers-directed video for “Sexual Tension” is an absolute treat. It adds another layer of fun to this amped up, seemingly very live recording from Austin’s Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears‘ newest (and fourth) studio album, “Backlash.” At first, it seems like it might be all about the bulldogs, but no, the male dog’s owner takes center-stage, doing everything he can to win the attention of the super-babe in the doctor’s office. Electrified by Black Joe Lewis’s guitar, she succumbs to the music and the man and woman break into dance, but once the song is over, so is the magic between them. It’s funny because it’s true, music has a tendency to cultivate these intimate connections between strangers that might never occur in the ‘real’ world, especially a funky jam like “Sexual Tension,” which seems deliberately designed to get people grooving and set the mood for romantic opportunity.
