The latest taste of the Afghan Whigs’ new album “In Spades” — their eighth and second since their 2014 reformations — is a scorcher. “Arabian Heights” barrels into the darkness on the back of drummer Patrick Keeler, who manned the kit for the Raconteurs and the Greenhornes before joining the Afghan Whigs in 2014. Frontman Greg Dulli says of the song: “Rick [Nelson, who engineered the album] got incredible drum sounds, and what Patrick does on that song is a master class in drumming.” “In Spades” is out May 5, and after a date at Harlem’s Apollo Theater on May 23, Dulli and crew perform throughout Europe in late May, June and August. Room for U.S. dates and a stop in L.A.? Fans can hope.
