Video: Atomic Walrus, ‘WYMMF’

Atomic Walrus’ surf ’n’ ska music isn’t going to curry much favor among writers generally dismissive of that aesthetic (counting us, probably), but the L.A. quartet — Joe Kellman, Max Cohen, Marcos Bohler and Nivedan Nayak — knows that having a good time depends on keeping things infectious and upbeat and not taking yourselves too seriously. The latter is evident at the end of their giddy new video for the single “WYMMF” (Way You Make Me Feel) — the rest is the song itself and the ingenious “tiny planet” video. Using a 360 camera and “messing with the footage a bit,” the band says, the video suggests the band is frolicking on a number of tiny planets. So go round and round with them — the way it makes you feel might be, after all, dizzy. Smile a bit. Then, maybe, go bowling.

Had never heard of them before this post, but that is a great song and video. I’ll have to see if I can catch them live sometime soon. Great find.
