Today marks the release of Nite Jewel‘s fourth studio album, “Real High,” and it’s groove for groove a great soundtrack for those who crave the atmosphere of R&B circa 1993 with futuristic slickness. Above all, Ramona Gonzalez’ voice sounds better than ever; so clear, smooth and full, it’s like floating in a crystalline swimming pool. The latest single, “Had To Let Me Go” features friend and Amthst-bandmate Dam-Funk on guitar synth as well as Cole M.G.N., who co-wrote and co-produced the album. Gonzalez says this song “explores a relationship that one enters into as a naive youngster with someone older and wiser. It channels the kind of excitement one feels when fostering love amidst difference, but coupled with the realization that this kind of difference can’t last.”
